This section includes information about climate change and about how and why the UK Climate Projections (UKCP09) were created.
Climate change is perhaps the biggest threat that humanity faces. We
all need to be part of the solution to climate change, and people and
organisations in the UK are taking steps to address it. UKCP09 is part
of that work.
UKCP09 is an initiative which is of great general interest. It gives us an insight into the changes that might happen if we don't reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and an understanding of the unavoidable climate changes we already need to adapt to. Its main function is to help people to make informed judgements about the potential impacts of climate change and plan for possible adaptations.
